P&O Cruises Drop Maleth Aero and Confirms New Airline Partners for Winter 2024/25 Caribbean Season

P&O Cruises has announced a significant change in its airline partnerships for the upcoming winter 2024/25 fly/cruise season to the Caribbean. Following considerable passenger dissatisfaction over the past year, Maleth Aero has been dropped as an airline partner. The new airline partners are TUI Airways, Norse Atlantic Airways, and Virgin Atlantic, promising a higher standard of service and enhanced travel experience for P&O Cruises’ guests.

Between November 2024 and March 2025, Norse Atlantic Airways will operate a weekly Friday flight from Manchester to Barbados, alongside alternating Saturday flights from London Gatwick and Manchester to Antigua/Barbados.

TUI Airways will provide Friday and Saturday flights to Barbados from London Gatwick, Birmingham, and Manchester, with additional regional flights from Edinburgh, Cardiff, Belfast, Bristol, Bournemouth, Glasgow, and Newcastle on selected dates. Both TUI Airways and Norse Atlantic will use modern Boeing 787 Dreamliners, featuring economy and premium economy cabins.

Virgin Atlantic will offer a bespoke Airbus A350 service in a three-class configuration, with flights from London Heathrow to Barbados every 14 days for guests joining Arvia.

Paul Ludlow, President of P&O Cruises, expressed his enthusiasm: “We recognise that flights are a key part of the holiday experience and so I am delighted that we are continuing our longstanding partnership with TUI Airways and that we are introducing a bespoke in-flight proposition with Norse Atlantic as well as fortnightly flights with Virgin Atlantic. This will ensure our guests have a consistent in-flight experience aligned across all three airlines, matching the high quality standard they would expect from P&O Cruises. The Caribbean is, and always has been, a dream destination and our newly refitted flagship Britannia and newest Excel Class ship Arvia will once again be based in Barbados offering itineraries to spectacularly beautiful islands in the region.”

Guests flying with any of the three airlines can look forward to:

  • A choice of economy or premium economy, with Upper Class available on Virgin Atlantic. Upgrades (subject to a supplement) can be requested at the time of booking.
  • Luggage allowance of 23kg in economy, 28kg in premium economy, or 2x23kg in Virgin Atlantic Upper Class, plus 10kg of hand baggage and a small carry-on bag.
  • In-flight entertainment across all cabin classes and amenity kits in premium economy and Upper Class.
  • Complimentary drinks service pre-meal and with the main meal, plus a complimentary bottle of water. Additional drinks service varies by cabin class.
  • Main meal service across all cabins, plus a lighter second meal depending on the time of day, developed in collaboration with P&O Cruises.
  • Luggage valet service: all luggage checked in at the airport for charter flights will be delivered directly to the cabin door on the ship in the Caribbean. Guests will be taken directly from the flight to the ship without needing to go through immigration at the airport. On the return journey, luggage will be collected from the cabin door on the ship and retrieved upon arrival at the UK airport.

Prices start from £1,399 per person for a 14-night Caribbean fly-cruise onboard Arvia, departing Bridgetown (Barbados) on November 22, 2024 (K425). This price includes return flights from London Heathrow, full-board meals, and entertainment.
